4" Heels in 4' of Water
The October nights waves constantly rose and fell; each second you were stepping down or up 3’ to the 20’ sailboats deck; A “What’s It Like To Be Outrageously Drunk” amusement-park ride.
I was witnessing the epic making of an After School Special; Teen angst unfolded. Stolen security gate keys, pilfered gas from a violated storage locker. And cut mooring lines.
As the rogue sailing student hacked with his penknife, a Prom Queen, dressed in 4" heels and shedding rabbit fur, sat like a mast head begging me to board. I love water, but water is not always ready to be loved. Tonight its skin was angry and black.
The pubescent explorers managed to sail to the other side. Inebriated for their return trip, they transferred their on-shore campfire into one of the parks metal garbage cans and placed it on board. Soon, the red hot can promptly disappeared through the melted fiberglass hull sinking all in 4’ of water.
The Prom Queen, wearing her 4" heels and sopping fur, sat poised and ready for cameras and a hero.
