I like the play on “it hit me”…I hadn’t been going for that meaning, but it was a nice surprise. I also enjoyed his explanation of how it was literal, and not metaphorical.

One wonders if that was the truck that was supposed to have caused the accident…

It has a fun voice to it, a non-traditional sort of narrator that works for the story. I liked the ‘who said shit’ cliffhanger as well. Feels a bit jumbled and rambling in places, but for the most part that seems to work with the narrator’s voice/style/idiom.
