John is in love with Mary, but Mary is just happy and content with John. She’s not head over heels for John but she’s not completely passive. However, it hasn’t always been like this before. When Mary was with John at the start, everything was so amazing and exciting. She couldn’t stop thinking about him and the same with John. Both of them was so engaged with one another.

However, a year begins to past, then another and now they have spent many birthdays, Christmas and New Years together. Mary comes to realize that she feels her relationship is not the same anymore. Everything has become a routine now. She wakes up in the morning and she starts her day. John will send messages to her, of how he loves her and misses her. When night falls, he will call and they’ll talk. Mostly silent, just the sound of normal breathing. She doesn’t get that heated feeling in her heart anymore.

Maybe this is suppose to happen, when couples are together for a long time. Relationships are more rational than emotional.
