why does it start with kind of? anyway, the class seems to hold a lot of information, and could be a lot of fun. I also foresee a lot of inner conflict and arguments outside of class related to this class as well.
Just by reading this article for the first time, it is hard not to get a strong sense of atmosphere from the teacher. How to put it- I find them hilariously interesting, to the point that I would wish that someone I knew to be in the Mottwoo class just to laugh at their misfortune… also to the point that I would have to refuse impolitely not to join in it.
A good, nice read, the development in one character in a sheer couple of sentences, striking.
I like the tone of the teacher – he’s not self-important and grandstanding. I think it would be more powerful if when listing what’s real he went for specifics rather than general: “Witches are real, so are mermaids. Griffons? I rode one to work this morning. Aliens? Well, they were real … Oh, and the gods? Turns out the Aztecs got that right. They’re real and they’re hungry.”
This is going to be a series, with each sequel explaining one of the many subjects this class will tackle. So if you think you’ve got an idea for how vampires work, well, toss it in a sequel.
I’m so glad this got featured! This piece is delightful. It’s so strange and surreal, and yet also matter-of-fact in the exact same breath. I can’t wait to read more.
