Into the Forest
It was a typical blistering hot day in Mexico as a german sheperd rested easily on the patio outside the sherriff’s office. Adolfo had a nice black collar, with two white bells at the middle of the neck, and had sleek, unusual silvery brown fur and a black neck, back, tail, and belly. Partially a maned wolf, the hybrid also gained a few unique ginger patches and a spike-like cuff. Adolfo heard footsteps coming from behind, then perked his ears. Delgado set a bowl of cold water next to his companion.
“Darn weather,” his owner grumbled. “More heat exhaustion reports come in everyday…”
_italic_Tell me about it…/, thought Adolfo as he settled his head between his paws, sighing. He yawned, felt dry air, then quickly licked a couple gulps of water. Delgado scrunched his ears in a petting way, then went off to oocompany the new car arrival. The ride was a casual red pickup truck, a bit faded, and had a mysterious ginger-haired policewoman inside. She greeted, “Hello, Delgado,” in an unhappy voice.
