Ficly

Only one

David felt different than everyone else, not just a little bit different, a lot different.

His mothers told him that it was normal to feel different, but David didn’t think he qualified as normal.

“I have this dangly thing between my legs Mom. It looks weird. No one else has a dangly thing,” David complained.

“Only you has that dangly thing in the whole world David,” said his other mother, “It makes you special.”

David was tired of being special. He wanted to know why he was so different than everyone else. He wanted to know how he ended up with a dangly thing when no one else had one. He wanted to be the same as everyone else.

David just wanted to be normal.

Maybe, David thought, I can find out why I’m so different. Maybe the Oracle can tell me something…
