Beyond and Back

“When you look up at the night sky what do you see more of; star light or cosmic darkness?” When the man stopped and approached me with this question I was speechless.

He began a rant that he was bizarrely invested in conveying, “It always seems that in The Eternal Battle light is surrounded, swallowed, consumed, & devoured by darkness…” At this point I was gathering my things off the bench to make an escape, but he wrangled in my attention again, “Except for in quality sci-fi or fantasy. For some, that’s why these are beloved genres…for some, 2012 looks to be the next major or perhaps last beacon of light…before all hope is lost.”

People were beginning to stare, wondering why I hadn’t fled the loon.

With eyes revealing well tempered urgency he concluded, “All things come and go, nothing lasts forever, time ruins everything, power corrupts, and money makes the world go round. So how can love save us all? – - – Despite a response, well formed or witty, delusions of grandeur is driving humanity.”
