The only thing that seems a little iffy is the line “knowing he’d been had”. I get the impression that someone fooled or tricked him from that. Do you mean “knowing he’d been made”, meaning she identified him as an assassin? That seems more in tune with the rest of the piece.

I read it five times. I feel the last sentence She would live to fight another day doesn’t fit, there really doesn’t seem to be a fight.
