My German isn’t very good, so I can’t say anything about your writing. I really liked the characters, and the ending struck me as maybe a little bittersweet.

good stuff SC. just one small thing: “Es gab niemanden, den Milo nicht mochte.” should probably be “Es gab niemanden, der Milo nicht mochte.” The first means that Milo likes everybody, whereas the second means that everybody like Milo.
