One by One the Voices fall Silent
I must escape this place before it is too late. My sickness grows upon me. I know not how much longer I can perservere. Some of the voices have fallen silent while others have become hollow, mere shadows of sound.
Noise poured forth from my mouth that was neither scream nor groan, but instead a hellish cacaphony that burned my throat like bile.
An orderly slammed open the door to my cell. “Pipe down, sixty-one!”
I held up scraped and bloody knuckles. “Look, sir, I bleed.”
The large man stepped inside to get a better look. “That’s not bad enough to warrant the good doctor.”
“True, my good boy.” I agreed, as I feinted for the door.
Instinctively he moved to block me but I was already twisting around to grab my intended target- his arm. Using my weight, I turned and threw him. He struck the wall head first and crumpled.
I couldn’t stay quiet. “Vengeance! Plague! Death! Confusion!”
Door thirty-nine stood at the end of the hall.
Escape!
“Yes. First let me talk with this philosopher. I need answers.”
