Choices for the Chosen: The First Step
We didn’t question Adam’s decision. Maybe he felt guilty or had something to prove. I just knew that despite our argument, I was glad to have him with us. The seven of us said quick goodbyes to the four we were leaving behind. I tried not to blame them but it was difficult. I was putting my life on the line and I didn’t even have a cool power. Maybe we all had something to prove.
Intermittant explosions still boomed outside overhadowing the smaller pops of gunfire that peppered the air. This was dangerous. This was real. And we had no idea who or what we would be fighting.
“The elevators are out and I don’t see myself running down twelve flights of stairs.” Roy said.
“What did you have in mind?” I asked.
“Something a little more fun.” He grinned. “Anyone afraid of falling?”
Adam’s hand shot up.
“Well I was kind of hoping you’d be the one to follow me but it’s alright.” Roy said walking over to a broken window.
“No wait!” Blaine called.
Roy raised clenched fists above his head and jumped off the edge.
