Audrey G. Burnett: Trapped
Audrey snapped her mouth shut as her blood slowly began to boil. Considered a danger? Exotic? Really? She furiously sketched giant dragonfly-like wings on her ornithopter as she fumed.
The last thing she had wanted was to be given attention as a freak or a danger or exotic. She always felt like there were eyes on her anyway and the last thing she wanted was to be noticed by those quirky boys.
A shudder went through her.
She felt more trapped than usual. She couldn’t stand this place. It was a pit with walls made of fire & odd creatures living in here. She flipped a page in her sketchbook, slowly drawing a small girl in the midst of giant unearthly beasts in party dresses & tuxedos. Crow looked over her shoulder after an hour and chuckled as she put the last strokes on a giant lizard’s fruit hat.
“Am I the ostrich with the over-sized goggles?” He asked.
“No. You’re the other human.”
He peered closer, “Where?”
She pointed to the mouth of the pit where an ornithopter was buzzing past the lava walls.
