Dearest Chris,
We’ve had a good run, haven’t we? I’m proud of the man you’ve become and of the legacy you’ve created. I hope you’re proud, too.
I just wanted to say, I’m sorry for the struggles and the pain. I know you feel they were necessary, and perhaps you’re right, but I still wonder what we could have accomplished if I hadn’t pushed you down that path.
We really thought she was the one, didn’t we?
In retrospect, the series of events following your downfall probably shaped the man you’ve become, but I still feel guilty that I put you through so much pain. You didn’t deserve that, and I apologize.
It would be dishonest of me to claim that I knew all along that you’d survive and become stronger. I had no idea what would happen, but I wished for the best.
I nearly cost you everything.
So, I want to apologize, and I hope that by now you’ve forgiven me.
Our time is short, so I’ll wrap this up.
I love you. I am proud of you. And I sincerely hope that we meet again, on the other side.
Thank you for everything.
Chris
