Alternate history? Were this about six years earlier, this could almost be a different outcome of the Cuban Missile Crisis.

It was sort of a homage to the film, The Last Man On Earth. Hence the year and character names. I wanted to bring across the despairing idea that the protagonist has lost his mind, but what he felt to be important to him lingered in the back of his head, coming out subtly. Hence the whole reference to family.

The letter ended with a stain, but that’s up to interpretation, I guess.

I really like the twist to this story. It was definitely out of the box! Keep it up!

As in the prequel – a very different take on the challenge. One criticism:

In my opinion, ‘venture out eventually.’ feels a bit clunky (it may be intentional on your part? – the guy has lost his mind after all!)
