In the small room
“They’ve been in there for hours,” Gerry said, sounding worried. “I don’t like it.”
Creaking and clicking drifted through the locked door to the Small Room. The occasional maniacal laugh did nothing for the mental state of the growing crowd.
Another hour passed and an abrupt silence fell from the room, scattering the onlookers.
The axe fell soon after.
