Little Sammy certainly is the winner here. A free ride to the arcade with no strings attached. (Does anyone care to use the ‘mature’ label anymore? Or are we going to go all willy-nilly with the Ficly Rules and do whatever we want?)
Mother is totally trying to get rid of the kids! That’s what she REALLY wants. Bringing up the grass, the chore of cutting it, is a clever persuasion— and it works— the desperate cry for Sammy! to hurry along is perfect.
To DO nothing— such a contradiction. I like that the Mom is a stickler about using absolutes not because I think it’s important to correct kids about that sort of thing (though it can’t hurt to get them thinking about what they say and how they say it) but because it adds a layer of authentic Momness that rings true. The dialogue is very believable and the situation highly relatable.
The gall you have to make ‘nothing’ a tag. How can NOTHING be a tag?! Jeez, 32… j/k ;)
