Out of the blue (2)

The strange man scared Janet at first, but after the initial shock she was surprised that she didn’t feel threatened by him at all.
“Come, let me buy you a drink.” – he said in a calm, shoothing voice, gesturing towards the corner of the street, where the neon sign of The Unholy Pint flickered in the dark. She decided she needed a beer anyway.
“What do you mean I’m a professional?” – They sat down at a table with two beers.
“I have watched your work on the streets.”
Janet tensed again. Okay, that’s just creepy. Is he gonna threaten to give me to the cops, or what?
“Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me.” – It’s like he knew what she was thinking. This was all too bizarre, especially with the man’s overly friendly smile and unreadable eyes.
“You’re freaking me out. Will you tell me what’s going on already?”
“In short, I would like to offer you a job.”
“What kind of job?”
“The kind you’re good at, but with more payout.”
“I’m doing just fine, thanks.” – Honestly she was more than interested though.
