I’m not overly keen on the contrite eco-Catholic tone of this – but that’s just personal taste. And I think you’re in danger of slipping into the purple with “the deepest caverns within the misty mountains Or the darkest waters of the salty sea.”
Having said that, it is (as ever with your work) well written, and tells a coherent story. The final stanza is the best, particularly:
“Maybe we dream of being first in order to convince ourselves That we are capable of more than the history we’re built from”
