“It will,” Ryan promised.
“So, a month?” Jessy asked, massaging her stomach to ease her daughter’s nerves.
Ryan nodded. “We’ll be sure to call you if it’s longer or shorter,” he informed her. “We’ve had her and her friends signed up for summer school to make up for what they’ll miss.”
Jessy smiled. “Thanks,” she said.
“Well, I need to leave,” Ryan said, checking his watch. “Farewell.” He turned and left. A slam was heard as he shut the door behind him.
Jessy fell back into a nearby couch and groaned. “I wish there was another way,” she grumbled.
Cassidy squirmed, trying to find a way out. A month?! In HERE?! She couldn’t do that!
And yet… She realized that something was happening. She was falling asleep. Perhaps it was her mother’s heartbeat, or just a side effect of being inside her belly, but whatever the reason, sleep took her and she fell into a deep slumber.
