Chapter 2 : Disapproval

Christine donned a long royal blue velvet overdress with gold trim and a cream colored satin chamise to supper. Her mother, the Queen, alway dressed for the evening meal and expected her children to follow suit. It was expected without question, Period, that she and Eoin alway be prepared for guests regardless of official invitation or not.
Once, Chris had been watching the Master of Equus work with a new filly her father had acquired as a payment for a debt. She had been so enthralled with soaking up as much as she could observe that time slipped away and she was late for supper. Rather than be any later for table, she opted to arrive late in her “stable attire”. This consisted of one of her brother’s pairs of breeches, a quilted jerkin and woolen tunic with horse hair all over it. The Queen nearly fainted when Chris arrived smelling like horse and covered in hair. There was even manure on her boots from a pile she had stepped in running across the yard. The smell was less than appetizing to say the least.
