The New Old World

He walked to the podium brimming with confidence. “My fellow Americans, we stand now in the midst of a renaissance, a new era, brought about by meaningful and hard earned change.” He scanned the massive crowd then refocused on the cameras once again. “Seventy years ago, the American dream was dying. It was unraveling from within. The more we tried to scoop up and patch together the pieces, the more we found failure.”

He was elected to legitimize The Movement, he had the majority of votes, a landslide if you will. It was political capital and he was going to cash it in right now.

“I stand here today, on Inauguration Day, proud to announce that we have returned to our roots and what made our nation its greatest. We have repaired a great injustice and we have ended an experiment that crippled our way of life and paralyzed our future.” Here he went, straight for the throat.

“We have finally reached salvation from our greatest sin – we have put our women back into the home – where – they – belong.”
