nature is much stronger than we give her credit for
she is the sea and the stars from
which we were born and to which
we shall return
and she will not always be so
forgiving.

her body becomes a battle ground
day after day
her skin writhes and crumbles, lay
waste to the pavement of a concrete
fortress
her pores belch smog and steam
that burn her skin and destroy
her lungs.

and when she cannot breathe,
she will lose her mercy for us
and if nothing else, we must become
afraid, because
nature
is much stronger than we give her credit for.
