“I need to know how you feel about the world today. What do you think about Green Day’s American Idiot album? The war in Iraq, our president, the economy, and global warming. I need to know if you loved my mother. Like really loved my mother. And how you really felt about me. I want to know if I looked beautiful on prom night, I need to know if I’m heading in the right direction with life in general. I need to know if you want to me to stop smoking and drinking beers and staying out late. I want to know what you think of my tattoo. And my boyfriend, I love my boyfriend, but I need approval. I don’t think I’m ever going to see you again. I need you to tell me everything you never got to say.
The grin on his face had flipped into a frown. His already gray eyes looked empty. I could see what was left his teeth chewing his tongue through the side of his cheek. He looked, for a moment, like he knew that this was coming. He let his arm fall twisted at his side as his eyes met mine.
