I think this is kind of the spirit in which Radiohead intended this line. I love it. Very evocative for the poor tuba player with his heart all crushed like a rose underfoot…awww, sad(sniffle)

I knew that tuba player. He was a great guy. A little overweight, but I think it was mostly his gigantic heart.

I’d forgotten how I loved this story.. the part about the heart making love still feels awkward to me. I’d write, “and you just sit there wishing you could put it all back together”.
I still love the symbolism of the crushed rose.
