Stupid life.

She woke up in a dark mood despite the sun exploding through the curtains. Stupid sun. Stupid morning. Stupid day. Her mind picked up where it left off when she finally drifted off to sleep the night before.

“Stupid life,” she mumbled as she stepped into a cold shower. Stupid water heater wasn’t working again.

So much for a good night’s sleep. So much for a refreshing shower. Kaylee was determined to be pissed. She had every right to be pissed. She had been betrayed by her best friend. They had gone through so much together, so much pain, so much laughter, so much boredom turned adventure. They grew up across the street from each other. Thirteen long years. Never apart.

But it doesn’t matter anymore. Lana is gone. Stupid friend. The scene played through her mind yet again.

Riding bikes down the same street. Up the same hill. Past the same bench. Into the same grove of trees. Lana grinned and said “watch this…” as she tried to skid to a stop by the cliff’s edge. But she went over. Silently.
