What’s lye soap?

You used to live on a farm? I thought it was good but i like a little more action in my stories. I’m not much for reminising. Very good forgot the literary term. It was somethign that makes the reader visualize the scenery better. The last line really caught my eye. Will there be a sequel?

see kids, this is educational! The only kind of soap there was before New Harmony Indiana made a facial bar from honey, oatmeal, and lanolin, was lye soap. Lye was made from lard and wood ashes that are steeped in water. Too much lye made for a soap that burned your skin, too little and the bars didn’t form.

I do live on a farm, but I’m not old enough to have ever lived like this. I have pumped water from an old pump before, though.

I think you painted a very pretty picture of the old days, with a nice sad twist at the end :)

I like this, I find short scenes such as memories and descriptions very interesting. The end was nice too, breaking the happy atmosphere from the rest of the story.
