Ficly

baby killer

“I’ve never heard the whole story” she tells her friends “it must be bad. He wakes up two or three nights a week sweating & telling her he’s sorry”
“Well my husband was there and saw it. He says it was a good shoot” says her friend “But then again they were all good shoots if you ask him”
The women continue their talking indoors as the men continue theirs outside. The best war stories are always told on porches
“He was using her as a shield man, I didn’t have a choice but to pull the trigger”
“You could have waited”
As the punch lands johnny tells his friend that he just wouldn’t understand. You can’t judge a man’s actions in war while drinking beer in Tupelo
“If I had waited, my friends would die. It was her or them. I aimed well and she didn’t feel anything, that I can promise”
“Well I still don’t think you should have done it”
“You may need to watch it bud” Sgt Adams breaks in “I know Clark better than you and I know he’d rather have shot you than her”
With that the men turn & watch the sun set silently
