Consequences
I’ve always said that if I could have a superpower, it would be invisibility. Flying, x-ray vision, super strength…those just aren’t my style. Cool? Absolutely. Useful? Not as much.
Invisibility, though—you can get a lot done with invisibility. It’s very practical. Especially in my profession. CIA agents don’t often have a need to fly places particularly quickly—regular air travel works perfectly fine, thank you very much. I guess x-ray vision and super strength could be useful in some situations…but invisibility—I can use that every day.
Intelligence gathering is tough shit. So when I actually started to turn invisible, I thought it was the coolest (and most useful) thing ever. It had suddenly become a lot easier to pull all the files I needed; to watch the high and mighty discreetly. Stake-outs had been rendered unnecessary; my stealth skills dwindled rapidly.
It was just as cool as I had always dreamed, having the ability to vanish at will.
That is, until I disappeared for good.
