Coming Out Party
As the last to arrive at the party, I was surprised at the lack of cars. Dave’s Chevy was here, as was Mikes Ford pickup, and Tony’s Thunder bird. In the driveway was Fred’s Toyota.
What the hell is going on? I wondered. I had received an engraved invite from Judy, it said it was her coming out party Whatever the hell that meant. I scooped up the J.Lohr, cabernet sauvignon, from the front seat and walked up to her lighted front porch.
Judy answered the door. The bright lights behind her left her in silhouette, it was only as she stepped aside to let me enter did I notice her baby bump. I patted her tummy and said, “Wow, who’s the lucky guy?” Without answering she turned and shut the door; that was when I noticed that the only guests were guys. And the silence of the house was deafening.
I held out the wine, but she shook her head, and patted her stomach. With a smile on her lips and a twinkle in her eyes, she said, “I guess you guys know why your here.”
