Saving the Day

“Damn!”

He saw her getting arrested, tussling with the policemen as usual. He had never understood her fascination with that single cathedral. He begged her not to go start sketching in the open, she consented. A few hours later, he’d be doing some errands for his boss and he’d see her sitting out in the middle of the busy square, drawing as if it were a perfectly legal pastime!

It looked like it was up to him to once again play a superhero and save the day…

“Excuse me! Sir! Mr. Policeman!”

He didn’t even look back to see who was speaking to him, but merely waved his hand and continued yelling at the girl.

“HEY! SIR! That’s my daughter!”

Finally, the policeman turned around, looking him up and down. The girl beamed at him.

“Matt!”
