I liked it. I think you should’ve gotten the pin, too. Silly stewardesses. Except, I know this will make me feel a little silly, but why does the life of every person onboard depend on her getting the pilot pin?

but women still had a “place” in society back then on airlines..
I want more story, I wanted her to rebel, but i knew she couldn’t. I loved the ending, nice metaphor!

I agree. If a woman and a man go for a job, neither one should get it because of tradition or charity. Whoever is the best fit (through experience and character) should get the job.

There are very few exceptions.

Jane Russell in “The Outlaw”- she’s a tough old broad like me, and like me, rebeled and found purpose late in life.

The lives onboard were at stake because I really thought he was going to be “the pilot”- I was really young.

I like the story, but also think it should lose the last line, which forces your interpretation onto the reader. The previous line leaves us with the indignation of the child, and leaves us free to explore our own conclusions.

Where are the bachelorists in our society? It seems unfair but is undeniably true that married men and women earn more and are given better raises in the U.S.

I may sequel this, to give my idea of the thought process of the stewardess. Or, I may completely forget. That’s my style. Also, I agree with Coccinella, I think it’s more powerful without the last sentence.

i don’t know what is worse that you thought we didn’t know it was jane russel, or that some of us didnt know it was jane russel. I knew, and it made me feel clever, that is not really workin out for me, being clever. hehehehehe

I love this story…although I love the last line (and often find myself using similar lines in my stories) I agree that it leaves more to the imagination without it.
Rest assured that it took nothing away from my interpretation!
