Tragedy Over the Power Station

The airliner was nearing home, its passengers eager to reach their destination. Stewards collected the discarded peanut packages and the tiny little liquor bottles as each passenger prepared themselves to land.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please note that the fasten seatbelt light has now been illuminated. Please take your seats, fasten your seatbelts, and place your trays in their full upright position. We will be touching down in London in approximately seven minutes.”

The aircraft crossed over the River Thames, then passed through a particularly dense column of smoke from the Battersea Power Station below. Suddenly, something large and pink hit the aircraft, and the right engine screeched as it met some resistance. Flames shot out of the engine and grew larger in a very short period of time… The right wing was engulfed in flames.

The captain’s voice rang out in a forced calm, but was largely ignored by the terrified passengers. As they stared, mortified, through the windows, the wing began to buckle…
