EOF made me giggle… I must be weird because I’m the only person who said to himself, “Wow! It takes one hard-core nerd to compare putting your fingers on a keyboard with sex.” Sorry, E.M. And I guess sorry to everybody else who got the right message?
I’ve been permanently attached to computers since I was 8 years old. I’m 23, 15 years of obsession.
Being a hacker, in all its various forms, you grow to appreciate the beauty of well-written, elegant, efficient code. You dabble in security, skirting the law, fueled by stimulants and adrenaline, the thrill of control, the required subtlety, the power you wield at your fingertips… It’s addictive.
It’s like the rush of pulling off a smooth bank heist, or stealing a priceless artifact from a secure facility.
Many hackers will admit that, to them, a successful hack can be more emotionally and psychologically thrilling than sex ever could be.
(I don’t agree, but I know where they’re coming from.)
Yeah, I’ve been attached to keyboards since about 8 as well. Majored in Computer Science. But it didn’t make me miss the lesson that fingers playing with keys aren’t as much fun as fingers playing with nipples.
E.M., on those grounds, how can they properly compare hacking to sex? But enough of this, let’s all give a warm welcome to Rachel Addison Miller, our newest Ficly member! Welcome, Rachel!
woooohooo, cheers for rachel! now back to the story.. That was computer rape! left it feeling empty.. ugh. But I agree with the antivirus comment, as well as the sensual details. very hott!
1. The closest those nerds see to sex is porn. If aching brings them more of a rush than porn, that’s their basis.
2. Yes, it is basically computer rape. Which is why this story is marked mature and why it leaves you feeling dirty after you read it. Also why I can’t win the competition… I don’t think it honestly portrays beauty… It was inspired by the virus story.
Originally I had thought of beautiful virus code but it felt incomplete.
Very nice job putting us in the mindset of the hard core computer geek, which is impressive cause I don’t know the first thing about programming, code, or any of that technical stuff.
I loved it, and I can understand the love for it. To have so much power in front of you, today’s technology gives me a buzz. You really nailed it with this.
Very creative and well done. I love the analogy and the wordplay. I thought at first you were referring to writing, not hacking, but I guess either could make sense. :D
