Isn’t everything on Ficly automatically licensed under the Creative Commons?

Yes, it is. However, seeing as the work is specifically my creation, it is within my power to revoke the license on my work.

Should I choose to copyright the material, I’ll remove it from Ficly and release it as a free PDF.

I don’t mind people using the setting, but I plan on writing a series of books based around it. I want my setting to be copyrighted to that people can’t try to plagiarise my characters or story.

You can use the magic system and the historical events as inspiration, but please don’t write fiction directly involving any specific characters I’ve mentioned.

Any fiction written by others in this setting is welcome, but considered non-canon unless I decide otherwise.

Mess, the work is copyrighted, automatically, the moment you write it. You have chosen to publish it on ficly, which means that you have released it under a Creative Commons licence. Given the nature of CC licences, it’s not possible to revoke that licence once someone, anyone, has taken a copy (eg. by viewing the story on a website such as ficly.com).

You state your preferred use of your CC work and that is fine, but not enforcable. The work is released to the CC and you can’t prevent anyone from using your work as long as they comply with the CC licence that you have granted.

Personally, I will respect your wish that others don’t use your characters, but you have released them under the CC licence, so you don’t have legal grounds to prevent anyone else from doing so.

I wasn’t planning on selling the history, nor do I mind the creative commons license on it. Just want to make it clear my desires relating to my work.
