This is beautiful! “Impossible sounds, intricate melodies and harmonies followed by sweeping, emotional undertones… " < Wonderful sentence!
The only thing I’d change is that the mother’s dialogue here feels forced…maybe someone else in the crowd should say it’s a miracle, or maybe leave that out. I think she’d be too shocked to say that in the moment.
Bards are musical, some sing and play the lyre, some rock it a capella, and this one plays the flute. He can sing, should he wish to, and with a beautiful voice, but he chooses to just play flute in this story.
Not sure what you revised, but I thought this worked well. I liked the rise and fall of expectation as it starts expectant, dips with the resolution of the boy’s condition, and then sweeps back up with the change in music. Wonderful storytelling in that way.
