Another Kill

He couldn’t feel it, but he knew that there was blood flowing from his gut. He tried to crumple, but the ropes tied around his arms, waist, and ankles hindered him in all attempts to dull the pain. He tried to scream but, alas, duct tape is quite soundproof. Heavy grunts and groans could be heard from the motel room next door; a young newlywed couple on their way to Niagara Falls for their honeymoon, doubtfully sharing a bed for the first time. The sounds of lovemaking drowning out the man’s cries for assistance, he gave up and slowly let go of life. His heartbeat slowed and his eyes shut gradually as he let go his last breath of air. I had succeeded.
