Effigies Burning XOR The Ring Soon Forgotten
The man stood there, gazing at the sight
As the body burned surprisingly bright
The kerosene, unbelievably, was easy to get
The dragging ‘came faster when the ground’s wet
Situations like this call for solutions obscene
When sanity returns, the gravity is seen
For so quick when it happens, a knife to the heart
Not long after all the screams start
She pushed him away, he was angry in defeat
He told her he loved her and urged their lips to meet
In the nearby clearing he took her, she wanted to talk
They escaped celebrations and went for a walk
As raindrops started falling, the party went on
The crowd was still crazy, the couple withdrawn.
She touched up her make up, ignoring the man
Another dispute was too much to stand
Fingering the ring, he decided to act
Before she has a chance to wrongly react
Tonight was the night, though, he prepared for it well
Excited as he was, her answer he couldn’t tell
