I thought I followed, then I didn’t, then I was totally unsure. Lovely verse and word choice, even if I’m still a touch more confused than I like to be. (So, did they accidentally wind up at a KKK lynching or did he murder his would-be fiancee cause he wasn’t sure if she’d say yet or some little lover’s quarrel gone horribly wrong?)

I have no idea what’s going on and the rhymes are either painfully overused (sight/bright, heart/start) or they don’t work (arise/pass, started/invited).

This needs heavy revision.
