Not sure what to call it, but it’s an amusing little piece. The end kind of seals it as allegory or metaphor, which works just fine. Poor jester, nobody takes him seriously. Still, it’s better than being the Court Serious.
I certainly like the last few lines, but the preceding story feels… well, almost ancillary to it. I guess what I’m saying is that even without the build-up, I’d have liked how it closed!
I enjoyed it more before the allegory at the end. I’m a theatre practitioner and student and have recently been dealing with just such a phenomenon in audience behaviors an reactions. I almost would have preferred it is as just a straight story, but it’s still good stuff.
