This could be a very climactic scene… I’m imagining the girl, having tried to end her life, finds herself at the gates of a Heaven that has long before fallen to ruin. The actions of man have corrupted their gods (they’re made in our image after all) and Heaven and Hell have shifted. The woman befriends an angel, but he’s not what he seems, and he begins a long and abusive relationship with her, unholy in its simplest form. At the end, she finally dissolves her bonds with the angel, taking responsibility for her sins in a broken world. He wanted to use her to grant his own pardon through God, but she wouldn’t let that happen. In the end, she finds herself brought before God himself, the only remaining bastion of light left in this broken afterlife. She is judged, and found worthy of life in a new heaven, a true heaven. The heaven she had known before was a test of her own personal character, the true judgment…
@Eloquent I so enjoy your story! I purposely left the “climax” open to interpretation. Yours is devastatingly lovely. You should do a prequel if you get a chance!
