The Light

Avatar Author: Samantha Lau There's not much to say about who I am, however like most here my passion is writing. I hope to improve my vocabulary and skills in English to one day, hopefully, be able to put my ideas into words in a way I'm proud of. Read Bio

A comfortable chaise lounge was set before the fully body mirror, complete with fluffy pillows and a blanket, all in clear colors. It was Light’s favorite spot to rest, so it was the most comfortable chair in the room.

It was night when Light returned to his bedroom (for after all, it was not always daytime in Light’s realm, even if the nights were brighter than your average), and after he would have changed into his night clothes he would take his usual spot on the chaise.

For hours Light looked into the mirror, his own room reflected down to the detail, but shrouded in shadows and darker colors.
However, there was one thing missing from that reflection.

He was missing.

It feels to me that this has a bit of an atmospheric aspect to it, I rather liked it. That last little bit was a tad ominous, raised the suspense a bit.

The only thing I could suggest is this:
“It was Light’s favorite spot to rest, so it was the most comfortable chair in the room.”
This bit’s a bit lopsided to me; perhaps you could shift it around so it looks a bit more like: “It was the most comfortable chair in the room, so it was Light’s favorite spot to rest.”

Overall I liked it. Personification of Light and Dark… this could be interesting.

Oh, I like that idea. It does make more sense too, now that you mention it. Thanks! I’m glad you liked it!
