A Hero's Beginning

Have you heard of the broken boy wonder
Who spent his bitter youth torn asunder
Knowing he could kill with a single touch
And desperate not to use that as a crutch
To silence those who couldn’t comprehend
Some minds are too broken to simply mend

But when a car came gunning for a girl
He couldn’t stop the powers that unfurled
And felt the fear, gripping him for so long
Leave as he halted an obvious wrong

When the dust was gone and the screaming stopped
The woman wasn’t hurt though her head flopped
In the arms of someone more than a man
He’d crumpled the car like a soda can
And faced down the crowd with a cocky grin
While he wondered how the papers would spin
That first piece on a boy who saved a girl
When he became the man who saved the world
