Are they demolishing it to make room for a new Super Spacewalmart? I can come up with a handful of sci-fi scenarios that would start or end like this, and I like them all.

Nicely described, though I’m not sure about the conundrum of it traveling “untouched”, but still intimately interacting with everything along its way. Heck of a doomsday scenario.

What I tried to mean by “untouched” was that gravity, friction, a flying baseball, etc. didn’t affect it. Those were the implied “outside forces.”

I’m not sure how to make that clear without adding a ton of words in.

This was a beautifully described scene, and, for some absurd reason, I envision the alien as the Great Gazoo from the Flintstone Cartoons.

Random Story is a beautiful thing.

This was great, Sam. Wonderful imagery and flow. The language is intelligent and gripping. There are so many possible continuation possibilities. Guess I should go read your sequel.
