Not sure where this came from. I had no idea what story I wanted to write, and yet this sort of came out of thin air. Not sure if it appeals to me as some of the other stories. It’s definitely a story genre, or format I have never done before.
Well, this is a very different change of direction in your storytelling, Steve! Begins with an apocalyptic landscape, and ends with a sense of hope. And these characters that have been introduced are interesting. Who are they, what are they and why? Puts me in mind of a combination of “The Road” and “The Day The Earth Stood Still”. OH! Perhaps the first character in this story is Klaatu!
Finally: Isyldor? That wouldn’t happen to be a Lord Of The Rings reference, would it?
This is an interesting take on the aftermath of the apocalypse. Usually there are people left, but not here. I, too, am interested to know who these beings are and what their purpose is. There are a couple of things you can do to improve this a little:
1) “Plain” should be “plane.” I’m pretty sure you meant a plane of reality and not a field-like plain.
2) You use “instantly” twice in quick succession. Maybe change one of them to “immediately” or something similar.
Thanks for the comments everyone! I’m glad you like the apocalyptic ideas in it.
@kaellinn Thanks for pointing those out. I feel like an idiot sometimes when I write, but I am glad that people are willing to help me out make my writing better. I will make those changes. Thank you!
