Where's that accent from?
“Wheres that accent from?” The older lady asked.
Bob had gotten this a lot lately.
He’d been traveling for over 6 years now & he knew he had lost his accent. He’d been tending bar in Miami for 3 months & he’d developed a bit of an american twang, this combined with his own scottish accent always caused confusion. After 7 years & countless countries his accent had become an amalgamation of so many voices. At times he sounded American, occasionally he sounded Australian, according to the public anyway.
He offered her & her friends a deal.
If they could guess where he was from, he would buy them all a drink.
“Australia?”
“New Jersey?”
“Brooklyn?”
“Germany?”
“Ireland?”
“Sweden?”
He sat on his stool in a state of disbelief, had his accent really changed that much over the years?
“Sorry all wrong, I can’t believe you didn’t notice, I’m wearing the flag on my shirt.”
He pointed to the St Andrews Cross flag pin he had pinned to his shirt pocket.
They all looked very confused,
“Thats weird, you don’t look Jamaican.”
