Lineage - Part 1

“Bring out the prisoner!” His Royal Highness sat on his regal throne gripping the golden arm rests. He hated this part of his royal duties. Sending a man to his execution is something that only God can command, and yet God laid that burden upon him. Burning a witch or a tyrant is perfectly okay, but a grown man, no matter what he’s done, it’s not his judgement call to make. Especially with this prisoner.

The prisoner walked forward, the sounds of the chains echoing in the King’s chambers. He stopped 20 feet from the royal throne. The King stood up and walked towards the prisoner who knelt in reverence. “I never thought it would come to this,” The King said.

“Neither did I Your Majesty,” the prisoner replied not looking up.

The King lifted the prisoners chin with his hand to look at him straight in the eyes. “Why? Why betray me so? Was it something I did wrong? A King is humble to admit failures you know. Speak.”

“I…don’t know your majesty.”

“What am I to do with you, my brother?”
