You made him slightly more innocent here. I think he should have been holding her under..teaching her to breathe underwater, become a mermaid, something sinister. :P

I liked it and no, no bigger story it was just the one off, and I figured i could sequel it to get over a little slump in my writing.

Ew, that was horrid, but nicely done. Definitely captures that self-preservation sort of thinking for kids. I like how it also suggests another, separate tragic tale in the wino.

The adding of innocents puts a bit more into the character. good job.

Shuddersome. It would have been much worse if the boy had killed the girl himself. As it is, he’s growing up to be a nightmare.

Yeh, I got the Stephen King creepy too. Nice little piece though, it makes you want to know the rest of the story in both directions.
