All Those Moments Will Be Lost Like Tears In Rain
The sky opens up above me
The clouds cracking apart
A torrential downpour of uncertainty
That soaks my breaking heart
Walking through the grey city
Shapes vague, blurred and damp
Neon artificiality
The canvas for my misery
Frustration at the cliche
Of my nothing-new emotions
Anger at my want for selflessness
Fury at my psychological comotion
And yet this is just a pinprick
Of dark in the sea of darkness
Where no ray of light can penetrate my mind
Is where the elephant in the room hides
For my time is slowly ticking down
The grains of sand are running out
Closing time is rapidly approaching
The bell is soon to toll
So before I reach my destination
And my path comes to an end
I’ll count the series of moments
That elapsed to create my life
But with miles to go before I sleep
And the rain battering the earth
I realise.
I realise
That all those moments
Will be lost
Like tears
In rain…
