The Trial

The attorney sat across from his young charge. She sat, trembling on the bench, unable to lift her head.

“It is obvious that this girl, having found herself in a deeply emotionally unsettling position, was further abused by the defendant, on the grounds of a private establishment. It is only right that due to the severe emotional distress that this Ms. Miriam Alzola caused to her, in such a trying time, she deserves recompense. Just because one believes strongly does not allow you to accost another, subjecting them to emotional blackmail. With the recent spate of suicides caused by this ‘slut-shaming’ photography that members of Ms. Alzola’s community has been demonstrated to revel in, I can only ask that the parish of St. Isodore’s pay my client a sum of not less than $15,000,000 for the distress that they have caused.”

The jury took 45 minutes, with so many suicides of teens in the news and the pictures of tear stained faces outlined in bright flash, the judgement against St. Isodore’s was clear.
