You’ve captured the tone of indifferent observation of life of the Regency novels perfectly. The first death really sounded like it was just a garden party being announced, or the 2nd prize at a flower show.

Very well written in keeping that tone, I agree. I found myself glossing over it as our society isn’t programmed to absorb information that way anymore, and I was interested by that. Also, I like the ‘British’ tag…it made me grin from some reason. ;)
